The Foxtou Auctioneering Coy. held their first weekly mart sale on Saturday afternoon, when there was a fair attendance of buyers, and most of the goods submitted were disposed of. Dessert apples were in good demand, and realised 9s per case. There was a plentiful supply of tomatoes submitted (over a quarter of a ton), and these realised from 2s to 3s per case. Onions sold at 10s per ewt., and potatoes at 8s per cwl. Several articles of furniture and a quantity of sundries was also disposed of. The next sale will be held on Saturday afternoon, and entries for same are solicited. The Company is erecting pens to accommodate pigs and poultry, and these will be a feature of future sales. There will be good consignments of fruit and vegetables again on Saturday afternoon.
