CARNIVAL NOTES
CITIZENS’ QUEEN
A meeting of the Citizens’ Queen Committee will he held on Monday night, at 7.30 o’clock. The Committee have all arrangements well hi hand for their dance to bo held at the Town Hall on Tuesday next, which should lie a record, as there have been a great number of tickets sold up to the present. It is the intention of'the citizens of Foxton to make this dance one of the best. The children's dance held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening was a decided success. The ball was comfortably filled with children, who tripped gaily under I lie guidance of several adult assistants. An over sufficiency of refreshments were on hand, and each child was regaled to its heart’s content with cordials and cake, and their happy faces and laughter were sufficient to denote the happy time they spent. Members of the Committee worked with a will to make the turn-out a success, and thanks are due to all I hose who assisted, and who contributed in any way to the success of the evening. FARMERS’ QUEEN. A meeting of the above Committee will be held in the Town Hall supper-room on Monday, the 21st inst:, at 8 p.m. As the business to be transacted is important-, a full attendance of the Committee is required. A dance will be held at Urmia Downs on Wednesday, when an enjovablc evening is to lie expected. NATIVE QUEEN. The Committee and helpers made an early start this morning with a well-stocked shop, and are going strong with their many competitions. Altogether there should be a good amount of money collected by their efforts. SPORTS QUEEN. The second of the Saturday night dances will he held by the Sports Queen Committee to-night. Dancing will he held from 8 till 12 p.m. Don’t forget the Moonlight Excursion on Wednesday, 23rd, and secure your tickets on the gold wristlet watch. FIBRE QUEEN. The Committee of helpers are busy preparing for (lie Fibre Queen’s Shop Day, which takes place next Saturday, and report good success in this connection.
All secretaries report good results from the sale of tickets for the picture entertainment held at the Royal on Wednesday and Thursday. The position of the flags this morning were: Citizens top, Sports second, Farmers third, Fibre fourth, Native fifth.
