SCHOOL COMMITTEE

A meeting of the. local State School Committee was held on Thursday night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Claris (secretary), G. Coley, Alexander, Jno. Ross, Perreau, Stevciisou, and the head teacher. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Petrie and P. Robinson.

A statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the school picnic disclosed a credit balance of upwards of £B. Votes of thanks were passed to all who contributed to the fund in cash and kind, and to Mr Coley for interest, displayed in collecting. An estimate and plan for erection of bicycle shelter was received from Mr Hunt. It was resolved that same he forwarded to the Board, with a request that the cost of erection be paid out of the Board’s funds, and that a copy of the letter be sent to the local representative on the Board. A sub-committee consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, Messrs Perreau, Coley and Stevenson was set up to confer with the builder re certain scheduled work in the grounds. Mr Coley was appointed to have the work of gas installation at the school expedited. The head teacher reported that ttie radiators were being fixed throughout , the school. Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting rose.
