THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER.

the royal, to-morroav. Everyone has read or heard Banjo Patterson’s “Man From Snowy River,” so it is not strange that universal interest is shown in the big Australian picture production of the famous poem, which will be screened at the Royal to-morrow (Friday) night. AVitlumt seeing the picture, one is apt to wonder how it would be possible lo make a connected film story from the poem, but after viewing the undoubted screen achievement that “Snowy River” reveals, that doubt becomes sheer admiration. The story is written round the poem, and introduces all Paterson’s well-known and loved characters, so convincingly presented as to perfectly visualise the personalities of the mind. An undoubted find is the heroine, Stella Southern, a Sydney girl who was selected and tested, and found to be just the ideal Australian girl. The title role is admirably portrayed by Cyril Mackay, who gives us a small likeable .characterisation of Jim Conroy, typically an “Aussie, as indeed are all the characters of the picture. A breezy, lively slice of life in sunny Australia, with the scent of the bluegums in every foot of its six reels. The prices of admission will be 2s and Is, plus tax; children half-price.
