CARNIVAL NOTES

FARMERS’ QUEEN

A very successful dance in aid of the above queen’s funds was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening last. There was a large attendance, and a good floor, music and supper helped everyone to enjoy themselves tq the utmost. The winner of the cake-guessing competition was Mr A. Entwistle, No. 73. CITIZENS’ QUEEN.

Things are going along well. A meeting was held last night, and was fully attended. It was decided to hold a bowling and croquet tournament on Wednesday next, the 16th, and a children’s Ball on Thursday next, the 17th inst., in the Masonic Hall, at 7.30 p.m. Adults 2s, children Is. A dance will also be held on Tuesday, the 22nd inst-., in the Town Hall. Gents 3s, ladies Is and a. basket. This dance promises to be a great success. Shop Day will take place on Saturday next, in Mr Perreau’s building. All those who have promised goods, etc. (and those who haven’t), please leave same at the C. M. Ross Coy.’s, or at the shop as early as possibel on Saturday morning. NATIVE QUEEN.

The Natives are well organised, and doing good work tkroughotit the district. They are holding a concert to-night at Taikorea for their queen candidate, and expect to nett a good number of votes. FIBRE QUEEN.

There was a fair attendance at the Fibre Queen's concert and picture entertainment last night, considering the great counter attraction in the children’s picnic at Ashhurst. SPORTS QUEEN. The Sports are still at work, and arrangements are all complete for the dance on Saturday night, in the Masonic Hall. Tickets on the handsome gold wristlet watch are available, and already selling fast. Their moonlight picnic promises to be one of the biggest of the Carnival fcrtunts.
