CHARGE AGAINST A BOOKMAKER.
VERDICT OF GUILTY. Christchurch, Feb. 21. In the case of William V. Whitt a, who appeared at the Supreme Court on four charges of bookmaking, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all counts. His Honour said, as there was a question of law reserved for the Appeal Court, he’would postpone sentence until the point had been decided. In the meantime the prisoner would be admitted to bail in bis own bond of £SOO and a surety of £SOO,
