BOROUGH SEWER LINES.
NO ALTERATION TO BE MADE. At last night’s Council meeting Mr IV. Bullard was in attendance, and objected to the proposal tor put the sewer pipes through his property in the Avenue. *IIc said the line at present went right through his lawn. He had spent a considerable amount of money and time in getting the lawn in order, and if it were cut up for the sewer pipes he would never get it level again without relaying the whole area. He would be quite agreeable for the sewer to go through his property if the line were shifted about 20 feet.
Cr Hunt said that if the Council pushed the matter, Mr Bullard would have no remedy. He bad just had an experience of the kind in Wellington. Cr. Coley: According to that the property belongs to the Council. The Council could lioi go through people’s property without going through the proper legal procedure. Mr ’Murray, representing Messrs Climie and Son, said Unit a good deal of lime had been spent in selecting the most suitable lines for the sewers, and il was considered that the one chosen for the Avenue was ihe best available. ,\ letter was read from Messrs limes and Oakley in connection with the objection lodged by Mr A. Fraser against the sewer going through his properly in Lady's Mile, to which Mr Murray made a somewhat similar reply to that to Mr Bullard.
The Council decided that in view ot the engineer’s report no alt eralion in the sewer lines could be made.
