BOROUGH HEALTH INSPECTION
At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council correspondence wa- read from the District Health Officer re the proposal that all infectious disease work (fumigation, investigation of cases, etc.) and general sanitary inspection, would in future be performed by an inspector of health deputed 10 the Department, at a cost to (ho borough of £3O per annum. The Clerk said the Health Officer had called and explained the provisions of the amending Act to him, which imposed further responsibilities upon the Council. ft was pointed out that the Council had a nuisance inspector, but lie was not qualified to meet the requirements of the Act. The inspector under the amending Act would make a thorough, inspection of the borough once a month, and would deal with cases of in feet ions diseases as required. As Councillors were not (dear as to the exact duties to lie performed, it was decided to hold the matter over for further information.
