WANGANUI RIVER MYSTERY
Taumarunui, January >B. The body of a man seen m the Wanganui liver on Wednesday by tourists on the river boat was recovered yesterday by the police. Thy features were unrecognisable. So far the body has not been identified. A letter was found in one of the pockets from a lady, and addressed “Dear Ken.” The writer arranged to meet deceased at the Waimarino railway station on December 24th. Jf he was not at the station she would take it that he lnfd gone to Tokaanu, and she would follow. The letter was dated December 13th. There was no headjng and no signature. It was reported that a man named John Gardiner, of Mangaohutu, was missing, hut his friends so far arc unable to identify the body as his.
