MANAGER'S REPORT,
The gas manager reported at last night’s Council meeting as follows:
Gas manufactured during December was 503,400 c. ft., an increase of 27,000 v. ft. over the corre--ponding period of last year. r l he percentage of gas unaccounted for ■,vns 0.2. During the month nine meters were changed, and these effected a saving of 0,400 c. ft., representing £5 Is 10d net. Ihe number of meters not registering this month totals 10. 'The 2-inch .main in Hall Street has been laid, and this week I hope lo finish f lie IA-inch main in Whittaker Street, and to pul in the service.-. The plnnl i- working salisfnctnrily. Four services were cleared of water Mid sand, and one new service was aid. The bends for the new pul'ilieis are lo hand, am! 1 hope to make start on them this month. Coal carbonised, 40 tons, yielding 10.070 e.

Earnings: Lighting £ll2 5s 7d, heat and power £ll3 2s Od, coke £lO 0s (id, tar £4O 12s Od, fittings £1.4 Us lOd, services £26 15s lOd, Jit lings' 7s, miscellaneous £2 5s 6d: tola!, £326 0s 3d.
In moving the adoipiinii of the report the Mayor said after making allowance for extraordinary uork in extending mains and non-recur-ring expenditure,- the earnings showed a slight credit. The report was adopted.
