THE LONDON MARKET.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 31st ultimo, from thq High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Meat. —Trade is very quiet for home killed. Continental supplies are heavy. Unusually warm weather affecting conditions and reducing values, specially pork, which is selling down to Is 2d per lb. Average prices are: Beef Is sd, mutton Is fill'd, lamb Is 9d, per lb. Imported slow. t Butter market quiet, buyers operating from hand to mouth. Government ration is not being fully taken up. Retail price still 3s 4d per lb. Supplies good, and all prospects are favourable. Irish creamery quoted at £l6 to £l7 per ewt. (‘is 10]d to 3s Old per lb.).
Cheese. —Spot, demand better for free Canadian in preference to Government stocks. Ration price re-* mains at Is 8d per lb. retail. Cana-) dian, white, £7 10s to £7 10s per cwt, (Is 4d to Is d per lb.); coloured, £7 Ids to £8 per cwt. (Is 4:1 d to Is 5d per lb.).
