CROQUET.

The Manawaln Croquet Association was formed at a meeting held at Balmerston N. on Wednesday. Members were present representing all the clubs in the district, and Mr Bollock, of Levin, having, been voted to (he chair, be explained the neccsisly of having a local association formed by all the local clubs, so that the members could get lo know one another and a genera 1_ interchange of ideas and match play could lake place. He had pleasure hi moving that the Association, he formally inaugurated. This was seconded by Mrs Meallan, of Dannevirke, and carried unanimously.

It was also resolved to affiliate with the New Zealapd Council, and the various clubs would pay a levy of Is "per member on lasl year’.-* roll lo that body.

The following officers were duly elected:—-Patron, Mr C. V. Spooner; president, Mr I'. J. .Nathan, vice-presidents, one from each club, to In.’ olee.led hy their own members; lam. secretary and treasurer, Mr C. E. Ferguson, box 10-1, Palmerston North.

It was resolved to hold club meetings in the various centres on the lirst Wednesday in every month, with the exception of January, during which month tlie North Island 'Championship meeting will he held in Palmerston North.

Mesdames Perreau, Evans, Ball, Woods, and Pearson .-journeyed to Levin yesterday, and indulged in muue interesting games with members of the Levin Chili. The main object of the visit was a challenge l,v Mesdames Perreau and Evans for the Hornblow Badges, held during the past season by Mesdames Pink and Kirk. The 'challengers put up a good tight, and on this occasion secured the trophies. The holders were decisively beaten. Future games for these trophies should be full of interest. -
