DR. MANNIX AGAIN.

AN ASTONISHING SPEECH.

Noav York, July 15,

A telegram from Plattsburg to the New York American reports that Archbishop Mannix, in a speech, declared: “I Avill not use mincing words regarding Ireland. The lime of mincing words is over for ever. The United Slates muse choose between the British rule of Might and do Valera’s Government of Right. I see no way Iml for America to recognise Do Valera, and I hope this wilbuoccur soon. '.lreland has the same grievances against England Avhich the American revolutionists had, only they are ten limes greater. England Avas your enemy, is your enemy, and shall be your enemy for all time. British propagandists tried to discredit me, by saying that I Avas hostile to American institutions. We Avere on an American ship, under the dear American Hag. Someone made excuse to sing the American and British anthems. The American anthem Avas included as an excuse for singing “God Save the King.’’ We stood Lit,, “The Star Spangled Banner,” but-we sat when they began “God Save the King.” I Avould stand as a matter of courtesy in othfr circumstances, but I do iTot think I Avas bound to rise when some ill-bred person sings an anthem to embarrass me.”
