MANAWATU COUNTY LOANS.

BOTH PROPOSALS CARRIED,

On Tuesday a poll of the ratepay T ers of the Manawalu County was taken on tiic proposal to borrow £50,000 for the purpose of extending the tramway line into the hod of the Rangitikei river, laying of new sidings, and re-laying part of the existing tramway, erection and acquisition of buildings and machinery and plant for the purposes of the tramway, acquisition of additional locomotives, waggons, etc., acquisition and equipment of stone ernsliing plant, and the acquisition of roadmaking plant, etc. The proposal was carried by a large majority, 57!) votes being cast, in its favour and t)(i against, while there were also two informal votes.
