LOCAL STATE SCHOOL.

CLOSED UNTIL THE END OF WEEK. Owing to the prevalence of Avhooping cough, measles and mumps, the attendance at the local State school has been greatly interfered Avith during the present quarter. ,

The recent mild epidemic of influenza has farther reduced the attendance. These facts Avere submitted to the Board, and a communication Avas received- yesterday to close the school until the end of the week. "When the school assembled yesterday morning there was a drop in the attendance of 130 and a further'decline this morning. The fall-ing-off Avas noticeable in the upper and infant divisions.

It is hoped that by the end of the Aveek the prevailing epidemic Avill have sufficiently abated to resume school, as the studies have been greatly interfered Avith from one cause and another since the beginning of the year.
