BEAUTIFYING' SOCIETY FORCED.
There was an attendance of over twenty at the mooting convened by Mrs F. Robinson, and held in the Council Chamber yesterday afternoon to consider the advisability of forming a Beautifying Society for the Borough. Mr M. E. Perreau was voted to the chair, and briefly explained the objects of the meeting, and referred to the good work,that could be done by a society if formed. After some discussion 'lt was decided, on the motion of Airs F. Robinson, seconded by Miss Spoil's, that a Beautifying Society be formed. The annual subscription was fixed at two shillings and sixpence. It was decided that the Executive should consist of a president, vicepresident, secretary, treasurer, and a committee of twelve, six- each ladies and .gentlemen, and that the Mayor and the member for the district be ex-oliicio members of: the Executive. The election of officers resulted as follows —President, Mr M. E. Porrcau: vice-president, Mrs F. Robinson; secretary, Mrs R. Moore; treasurer, Air W, Trueman. For the Committee twelve ladies and' ten gentlemen were nominated, and on ballots being taken the following were elected; —Alesdamos C. E. Robinson, Patterson, McMurray, J. 11. Robinson and ITalliday, Miss Symons, and Messrs Godin, Moorhouse, Hornblow, C. ff. Symons, Holliday, and Raiiie.
