FEUDING S.A. BAND.

VISIT TO EOXTON. Eoxton was favoured last Saturday and Sunday by a visit from the celebrated Bedding Silver Band (Bandmaster Trcmain). The visitors were received by Hie Life Saving Spout Trumpet Band, and were marched to I lie Post Office, where a few words of welcome were spoken by Capljpiu Coffin. The Band then marched to (lie Salvation Army Hall, where they were entertained to lea by tin* local corps. A musical “blizzard” was held in the Main Street at 7 o’clock, where the Band obtained a good hearing, expressions of pleasure and appreciation being heard on all sides. Captain Collin conducted the Band, the playing of which was a revelation in (lie art of brass band playing to a good number of those present. A returned soldier, bandsman who had played in a “crack” band at the front, .expressed the opinion that in a (‘oiliest the Band would obtain a front rank place. On Sunday morning the Band serenaded the townspeople with - lively hymns, and the afternoon was devoted to a programme of music and song in Victoria Park, where a large number of people gathered. Preceding the service in the Town Hall, an open air gathering took place in the Main Street, and Staff Captain Macanlloy conducted the subsequent service. At 8.15 an afterchurch “rally” attracted a large crowd, which revelled in (he numbers given so creditably by the Band. . ■>

Captain Gofiin acted as conductor of the Band during the weekend, and the marches “Hawkes Bay,” and the “Red Shield,” which are the Captain’s own compositions, were played with great acceptance. Captain Goffin wishes the “Herald” to thank one and all for the many acts of kindness, particularly those who entertained the men in their homes.
