POPULATING THE DOMINION.
• Wellington, Last Xigbtf A return furnished by the Immigration Department to the Prime Minister shows that for the .first four months of the present year, 1,351 immigrants arrived in New Zealand. This number does not, of course, include returning soldiers' and w,ar workers. For the present month the number of immigrants will probably be 1,000. "Mr Massey said that most of these were “nominated” by friends or relatives in this country, and such immigrants were of no concern to the Government, ns they all had friends to go to for advice as soon as they arrived. Of tiie immigrants who have arrived, 141 of the men have come out tinder the Imperial Government’s sehe-. me for assisted passages to ex-ser-vice men. There are still a very large number of New Zealand war workers—those members of the New Zealand colony in Enghyul, who did so ranch for the soldiers during the war—remaining in England and desiring to come out to New Zeal and when opportunity offers.
