■ SENIOR. .The Fox ton seniors were drawn to play the Levin Wanderers on the Foxton "round, hut. when the time to star) the match an’ived it was found that only a few of the Foxton players were on the ground. The game resulted in a runaway victory for the visitors, who put up a cricket score, the total being 58 points to Foxton’s nil when the whistle blew. Mr L. .). Furrie refereed. The other senidY results were: ■ 'Tokomaru 5 beat Shannon 3; Hui Mai 8 beat Kuku 3. JUNIOR. The ITorowhenua Rugby Union’s senior and junior competitions were commenced on Saturday.
The local junior team journeyed to Levin on Saturday, and played Levin Wanderers juniors, in the first round of the Banner matches. The game resulted in a win for Foxton by 14 points to six. Levin had the advantage of weight in their forwards, which wore slightly superior to the local vanguard, but the 'Foxton backs shewed more combination and pace than their opponents. Robinson and Thomson showed up most in the Foxton forwards, and the Foxton backs all played good games, despite the fact that ibis was (heir first game together. For Levin, Stickle (back) and Henderson, Snell and-Rose (forwards) were the most prominent. Tries wore scored for Foxton by Moses and Reid, both of which were converted by Taylor, and McPherson kicked a good goal from the field. Lauder scored for Levin, the* kick at goal by Toko being unsuccessful, and Toko later kicked a goal from a penally.
