HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A Committee meeting of the above was held last night, Mr W T . E. Barber presiding over a good attendance. Correspondence was read from Miss Woodroofe, tendering her resignation- as a member of the committee. It was resolved to ask Miss Woodroofe to reconsider her resignation. Votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs Blanchette for supervising the tea rooms, and Miss Woodroofe the sweets stall, at the Spring Show. It was resolved to forward a letter of condolence to Mr Lumsden and family in the sad loss they had sustained. It, was decided to forward fetters of thanks to all who had assisted in the recent Show. A statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the Sprung Show was submitted by the Secretary; the receipts totalled £3B Is Id, and the expenditure £3O Cs lOd, leaving a credit balance of £7 14s 3d. The following judges were appointed for the Summer Show: — Pot plants and cut blooms, Mr A. J. Shailer; fruit and vegetables, Mr Kingsbeer; dairy produce, cookery and home industries, Mr A. E. Whitehead; fancy work and sewing, Miss Mortensen; decorative, Mrs Billman; school work, Messrs Elliott and Galland; miscellaneous, Mrs Keedwell. An application- for space for woodwork display from Mr Harding was left in the hands of the president and secretary to arrange. A request from the Otaki Society to retain vases until their next show was granted. Other routine business was discussed, and the meeting rose.
