CHATAUQUA.
Miss Stanhope, representing the Chatauqna movement, is in Foxton endeavouring to arrange a guarantee for the appearance of Chatau.rjua in Foxton for a week’s session, at the end of the year. The guarantee must be signed by 25 citizens; who arc responsible for the sale of tickets totalling £3OO. The movement is one worthy of encouragement in this country as an inspiration to education and art. Wherever Chatauqna appeared on the last visit guarantees have been forthcoming without difficulty for its reappearance, and a large manlier of smaller towns have been included for the coming itinerary. Levin, Otaki, Palmerston N. and Feilding have signed the guarantee, and there is every likelihood that Foxton will follow suit. At last night’s meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Miss Stanhope explain-' ed the objects of the movement and the nature of the guarantee. i
