MOTOR CAR ACCIDENTS.
Nippier, June 2. Napier had a chapter of motor accidents during the week-end, Mr Dennis Crowley, a resident of Clive for over 40 years, was 'knocked down by a ear at Clive. He was crossing the road and became confused on the approach of a car being driven from Hastings to Napier with a load of hockey players. The inquest was opened, and adjourned till Saturday evening. Mr William James Munro, a clerk in Niven’s foundry, was found unconscious at Napier, having been run over by a car, which had driven off, leaving Munro lying on the road. He was taken to the hospital, where there is a slight improvement in his condition. The driver of the car has not been discovered.
A ear proceeding to Hastings on Saturday night, after the theatre, overturned at Waitangi. No one was injured.
Oamaru, June 2.
The Coronial inquiry regarding, the fatal motor accident on Thursday night was yone 1 tided to-day. The jury returned a verdict that Mrs Glass and her daughter met their death by asphyxiation by being pinned by the car in mud and water, adding-a rider drawing the attention of the authorities to the failure of motorists to dim their lights on meeting other vehicles, and expressing the opinion that the bridge where the accident- occurred should be widened, as the approaches are dangerous. Christchurch, June 2.
A motor car accident .yesterday at Waikari resulted in tire death of a child aged three years, named Hepzibah Kennedy. No details are available except that deceased was one of .a party in a car driven by her father, and was killed by the car overturning.
