SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly molding of the School Uommifle was held last night. Present: Messrs Kellovv (chairman).-, Pcrrean, Parkin, Claris, P. Robinson and Alexander. The head master (Mr L. J. Fnrrie) was also in attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs, Coley, Hornblow and Me Murray, - The headmaster reported: The average attendances for the past four weeks have been 361.9 (roll 387), 364.8 (roll 386), 364.2 (roll 389), 356.5 (roll 388). The fall during the last week was caused by wet weather, the number present on one day falling to 343, the lowest vet; recorded this year
The gas stoves have come to hand, and a start has been made in installing them ’ The scheme
for providing hot cocoa for the children at midday is working splendidly, and by a sub-division of labour and responsibility the work is reduced to an absolute minimum. w
. . . Some time before (be lire Mr Pcrrean had the matter of the erection of a Roll of Honour in hand, and 1 think met with a very satisfactory response to his appeals. The destruction of the building has temporarily put this matter ‘‘out of court,” but any money raised will carry a subsidy which ought to be applied for before the expiry of twelve months. —The report was adopted.
