MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.

A meeting' of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held on Saturday afternoon. Accounts' amounting to £226 were passed for payment, and the annual balance-sheet, disclosing a credit of £6 4s 6d, was'adopted, subject to audit. It was reported that the heavy hinges on the main flood gates had been fixed, and were a great success. The Duck Creek concrete floodgate and culvert were completed, and should be a great relief to the ratepayers in that portion of the district. All drains, including the main and diagonal drains, were completed. Notice is to be given of the intention of the Board to rate on a uniform scale, and on the unimproved value, a general rate of 7-lGths of a penny in the £, and a special rate of one farthing. It was arranged to engage Mr Madden to make periodical inspections of the floodgates. •
