RECEPTION PREPARATIONS

Wanganui, April 4,

Big preparations nr 4 being made to welcome the West Coast and South Island detachments of the Maori Pioneers’ Battalion arriving oq Monday. Large numbers of Maoris are arriving from all parts of the Dominion to participate in (he hui.

Mr McGregor informed us yesterday that arrangements are being made to accord fitting welcomes to the Pioneers locally and at Levin and Otaki. If the Pioneers accept the invitation, the local hui will take place at Matakarapa, the Maori settlement across the river.
