Yesterday :i la I'f’t 1 parly of Levin croquet players paid a visil (o the local lawn, and spent a most enjoyaide time. The local ladies enter(ained 1 lie visitors at morning and afternoon tea, and at lunch. Play in the morning was confined to a twenty-minutes toiirnamerd, for 13. players, and the result was a win for Mrs Pearson, of Fox ton. The following arc the scores: —Mrs Pearson 11 points, Mrs Gardener 9, Mrs Frctchling 7, Mrs Por Icons 7. Mrs Chaplain (i, Mrs Freeman (5, Mrs Hoi da way 5, .Mrs Ball 5, Mrs Pink 4, Mrs Barr 4.
In the afternoon a match was played for the Hornhlow Badges, the challengers being Mesdamos Lancaster and Kirk, and the defenders Mosdamcs Whibley and Perreau. The result was an easy win for the visitors by 15 points.
On Wednesday, the 2(ith instant, the local players will pay a visit to Levin, where play will commence a.bout 10 a.m. In the afternoon a match will be played for either the Gold Stars or the Badges.
In the competition for the trophies presented by Mrs Mandl, the following is.the drawing of the players for the first-round Mrs Reay and Mrs Woods, Mrs Ban - and Mrs Pai'kes, Mrs Ball and Mrs Perronn, Mrs Pearson and Mrs Whibley, Mrs Freeman and Mrs Healey.
