GARDEN PARTY
The garden party given by Mrs F. Robinson, at her residence and grounds, Lady’s Mile, on Tuesday afternoon last, was a very enjoyable social affair. The weather was ideal, and a large number of people assembled from the town and district. The object was two-fold, viz., to bring the people together in social intercourse, and to assist by way of a silver-coin collection the funds of the St. Alary’s Orphanage at Karori, Wellington. Interesting competitions and tennis were indulged in, and afternoon tea was dispensed. Upwards of £lO was collected for the orphanage. The treasure hunt was- won by Miss Kathleen Barber. Miss Stella Barber won the competition for pinning a tail on (he donkey. The tennis court was also well patronised. All present spent a most enjoyable afternoon.
