THE HEMP MARKET.
EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. Wellington, Jan. 16. A Gazette notifies that, in accordance with advice received, the Government of the United States of America now propose to grant licenses for the importation of New' Zealand hemp without limit as to the quantity. It also notifies that, in accordance with advice now received, any prohibitions against hides, skins, undressed fur skins, mul rabbit: skins, have been withdnnvn. Permits to export these articles to the United States of America will be freely granted in tho meantime,.upon application addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Wellington, except in the case of tallow, for which no permit is required. MAXIMUM PRICES. The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram dated KMli January, 1919, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — “War Ollice nolilies (hat owing (o decline in mark'd, values in (ho Philippine Islands and also reduced transport charges, Government issue prices of all grades Manila hemp have been revised. New prices, .1 £BO, K £79, L £7B, M. £7O. Others in proportion. These apply to allocations dated on m’ bcfoie November .15th. Hemp Coutrolfei slates dial il was not considered necessary at the same lime to altei maximum price of New Zealand, St. Helena, and Sisal, which is inllncneed by Manila prices, hut it is proposed cancel maximum prices, order relating to these in the near future."
