EPIDEMIC EXPENSES.

Tho expenditure in eonneetion with the influenza epidemic in the whole of the Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board district totalled £2,766 14s Bd, exclusive of a few small charges that may yet have to come in. Accounts to the amount stated were passed at a meeting of the committee of the Board on Thursday, the Mayor remarking that the total would comparg, most favourably with that of similarly affected districts in the Dominion. The smallness of the total was wholly due to the assistance of all classes of the people, many of whom gave valuable services voluntarily and free of charge, while owners of motors had been most generous in placing their cars at the disposal of those engaged in the relief work. As an instance he mentioned that the whole of the motor car work, inclusive of the cost of benzine, did not exceed £IOO for the period of the epidemic.
