A Paris message from the United Press correspondent states that it is reported that the preliminary peace negotiations will begin in January. The signing of the Peace Protocol is not expected before February.
The New York World’s Washington correspondent reports that Senator Lodge, interviewed concerning
the peace terms, said that the pecuniary compensation which must be made to Belgium and other countries destroyed by Germany must not only he in money, but in Germany’s colonies, which must be taken from Germany because they would aid her to develop a Navy and commerce which might again threaten the peace of the world.
