OBITUARY.

MRS. AVANKLYN,

We regret to record the death of Mrs Wanklyn, which took place at her residence, Russell Street, at an early hour yesterday morning. The deceased was a victim to influenza. She leaves a family of three daughters and three sons (one of whom — Stanley —is away with the forces) to mourn their loss. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. The Rev. Mr Raine conducted the ccromonv.

MR. S. H. COLLINS

Mr S. R. Collins, local bookseller and sialinner, passed away at the vicarage temporary hospital last evening. The deceased contracted the disease in a very severe form about a week ago, and despite the most careful nursing and medical attention, was unable to make headway. The late Mr Collins came to New Zealand a few years ago in company with Mr Nesbil, to engage in farming. Ho subsequently stalled business in Foxton as a bookseller and stationer. He look a keen interest in musical matters, and was an acquisition at all local concerts, both as a vocalist and musician. . He was a devoted member of AH Saints’ Church, and a member of the vestry. General sympathy is extended to las two sisters who are left to mourn their loss. The funeral took place this morning, the Rev. Mr Raine conducting the ceremony.
