THE ROUND BUSH.
The question of the proposed acquisition, of the Round Hush as a scenic reserve was, again before the Borough Council on Monday night, when a letter was road from the Secretary of the Eoxlon Harbour Board advising’that the Board was prepared to accept the Councils suggestion that (he valuation of the land he arrived at by arbitration, the. arbitrators to be, one independent vainer appointed jointly by the Harbour Board and Borough Council and one representative appointed by (he Government, these two lo appoint an umpire lo decide in case of any difference, provided the Borough Council would guarantee to pay any difference between the Governmenl grant (£425) and the value placed on the land by the arbitrators. The Mayor said he did not consider the Borough Council should be called upmj to foot the bill on (heir own, the Manawalu County Council should certainly contribute also, Cr Coley said no doubt the hush would later on lie used as a picnic, ground by a number of Palmerston North people, and the Borough Council (here should also contribute. It was decided on the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Coley, (hat in reply lo (he Harbour Board, Hie following letter be sent: “We respect fully submit that the acquisition of the Round Bush is in (he host interests of the whole district within a radius of 20 miles; we believe that (lie difference in the award and the Government grant should he paid by the local bodies interested, viz., Eoxtun Harbour 'Board, Koxton Borough Council, and Manawalu-County Connell, Wo will communicate with the Manawalu County Council and Id you know their decision on receipt oLtheir reply.
