INFLUENZA.
There are a large number of penult 1 down with influenza locally, ami Dr. Mamll is having a very strenuous lime. We are pleased to report, however, that there are few serious eases. We are requested to slate that when people are attacked by the epidemic that they procure the mixture in general use from either of the local chemists, and if compliealions set in within 48 hours, to call in medical aid. Dr. Mandl is going at high pressure, and in order to relieve him as much as possible the public' are requested to act on this suggestion. Affected households arc notified that Mr Perreau, acting in conjunction with Mr Bryant, is making up soup for those who are ill, which may be procured at a moderate cost. The soup is only for those who are. ill. Those requiring same arc requested to bring jugs or other suitable receptacles. The Mayor has convened a meeting, to be held at 8 o'clock to-night in (he Council Chambers, of all willing to assist in combating (he epidemic, and who arc prepared to render personal service. . Disinfectant may be purchased at the Borough gasworks at Is (id per bottle —cut price. Purchasers are requested to tiring their own bottles. The strength of spray is one part disinfectant to 80 parts water. ” Acting under instructions from the authorities we are requested to demand that all householders immediately disinfect their premises, outhouses and back yards. This notice is imperative. We are asked to shite that all persons affected arc to be isolated if possible, or at least occupy separate beds. Good ventilation is absolutely necessary. Every person should carry a small bottle of disinfectant, and liberally besprinkle their handkerchiefs with eucalyptus and inhale frequently. The epidemic has been prevalent in Fox (on for the past six weeks, and so far there has not been any deaths, and only a few serious cases. If householders will 0n1y... observe cleanliness and take commonsense precautions everything will go alright. .
