THE NEW SCHOOL.
Al last night’s meeting of the School Committee (he Chairman reported. that the Board’s architect (Mr Hodge), accompanied by Mr Fraser (Board member), Mr Banner (agricultural instructor), the head teacher, and himself, conferred re the new building on the school site yesterday. The question of site for the new building was thoroughly gone into,'with a view to provide the maximum of light and sunshine. The old site was decided upon, except that the building will come further forward, occupying about onethird of the garden plots, and the class-rooms will face east and south-east. The building will lake the form of the letter L, with a large assembly at (he rear, facing Duncan Street. It will contain two offices and two store-rooms, together with six class-rooms and two large corridors, etc. The system of lighting and ventilation will be on the most approved system. The plans will be submitted to the Department for final approval. The Board will do its utmost to push the erection forward without delay.
