PRESENTATION' OF SIEVED CRADLE. TO MAYOR CHKYSTALL. At last night’s Council meeting Senior-Councillor Coley said he had a very pleasant duty (o perform. They were all aware that some little time ago there was the birth of a son to the Mayor and Mayoress, and in accordance with the usual custom the Councillors decided to make a presentation to (hem of a silver cradle. The present was the fourth occasion on which such presentations had been made to Mayors of the Borough of Eoxtcm, the previous recipients being Mayors Simpson, Gower and Stiles. He asked the Mayor to accept the cradle with the best wishes and hearty congratulations of (lie Councillors. Cr Walker said that as a family man he fully appreciated the position, and was pleased to be a member of the Council on such an unique occasion. He expressed (ho hope that the Mayor and Mrs (Ibrystall would he long spared to see (heir latest son grow up to he a n-e----ful citizen and a loyal subject of the Empire. All (he other Councillors expressed pleasure in taking part in the presentation, and added (heir congratulations to (lie Mayor and Mayoress. The Mayor expressed his very -inccrc thanks for the beautiful presentat ion, and congratulatory remarks. He was pleased that all Councillors appreciated an increase in the population, and said them was nothing our fair country needed so much as increased population. Everything possible should be done to stimulate the birth-rate, and he was pleased to say that as far as the members of the Eoxton Borough Council was concerned they had a very good record in this connection, (ho families of Councillors (dialling s(i children, (he list being headed by Cr Coley with thirteen. He was strongly of opinion that the Government should provide a baby bonus, and a substantial •me at dial, for all mothers, He concluded by again thanking Councillors for their kindness and congratulations, and said he would convey their good wishes to Mrs ChrystaJJ. (Applause.)
