BOWLING.

There wtm a large number of bowlers on the local green yesterday afternoon, and the croquet lawn was occupied for the first time this season. The official opening of (he croquet lawn will take place next Wednesday, when visitors will lie present from ail the neighbouring chilis. The Xye Ferns match played yesterday afternoon was a very close and interesting game, the result being in 'doubt right up until the last bowl had been played. The holders started off with a four on tin* first head, hut in the next three heads the challengers evened up the score, and after eight heads had been played the hoard read seven all. Two heads later it was eight all, and at the conclusion of the 20lh head the teams were again equal —14 all. On the last head (he challengers scored one, and lints won the game. Follett Woods Healey Bryant Admore Xye Large (s) 15 Christie (s) Ti The rink match between the four oldest men in the Club and the fom; youngest, played yesterday afternoon, was watched with great interest. The result was a win for the “hoys” by a margin of six points. The “men” started off with-a single, but this was evened up on the second head. On the next two heads Himmor’s rink scored two twos, but from this on until the afternoon tea adjournment, 7 heads, they failed to register a further score, and the hoard then road 14 —5 in favour of the youthful players, in the seeond part of the game the “men" scored seven singles and the “boys” a pair of singles and a two.
