ARMISTICE GRANTED AUSTRIA.

HOSTILITIES CEASED AS FROM YESTERDAY. His Excellency the GovernorGeneral (the Earl of Liverpool) has received an urgent message from Mr Lloyd George that an armistice has been signed with Austria. It takes effect at 3 p.m. to-day (Monday), London time. ' [3 p.m. Monday, London time, is equivalent to 2.30 a.m., Tuesday, New Zealand time.] Amsterdam, Nov. 3. Advices from Vienna state that an armistice has been concluded on the Italia)! front, and that hostilities have ceased. London, Novemb. 2. It is officially announced that Austrian officers from the General Staff arrived at Italian Headquarters, under a flag of truce, and requested an armistice. General Diaz transmitted the request to Signor Orlando (the Premier), who is now at Versailles. The inter-Allied Conference at Versailles drew up the Austrian armistice conditions, which General Diaz commnnicatei'l to the Austrian envoys. The conditions will render the enemy's resumption of the war impossible, and also prevent him from profiting by the armistice and extricating himself from his present bad military position. New York, Nov. 2. It is intimated from a high quarter that Hie Hungarian leaders told the authorities in Vienna that they would demand the immediate recall of the Hungarian troops from the Italian front, and would negotiate for a separate peace.
