EDUCATION.
The following resolutions Avere carried unanimously at a public meeting in Palmerston last night: — 1. That in the opinion of this meeting the time has arrived avlicu the educational grants should be increased to £3,000,000. 2. That (he stains of the leaching profession should be raised, and salaries paid in keeping with the Avork. 3. That greater inducements should be given to young people to take up the profession of a teacher. Speeches avcvo made by Messrs J. A. Nash, P. C. Freeth (member of (ho Wanganui Education Board), Hoddcr and de Boitv.
