SHOCKING TRAGEDY

INFANT’S. EYES GOUGED OUT. Hamilton, Yesterday. The Hamilton police have received word of a shocking tragedy in Naike, Raglan County. The details are meagre, but it is slated that a settler named Albert Morrinc gouged out the eyes of a year-old baby girl, and thou ran away. Mrs Morrine rang up Mrs Griffin, a neighbour, who went to the house. The man returned later, and endeavoured to cuter the house through the doors and windows, hut the women prevented him doing so, and telephoned to a neighbour, who came and secured him. The police and Dr. Marlin, of Nganiawahia, were scut for, and went out. The doctor attended the child, who was brought to the Waikato Hospital.
