BOWLING.

A meeting of the committee of tlu> local Bowling Club was held on Tuesday night. It was decided that as the croquet lawn will not be in order, the ladies be allowed half the bowling green for their official opening only, which lakes place on Wednesday, November Olh. Messrs W. E. Earlier and R. McMurray were elected members of (he Club. Mr W. Adams, of Terrace End, who last year was a frequent visitor to !he Poxton green, signified his lent ion of presenting two gold medals for competition. The secretary was instructed to write Mr Adams, expressing the Club’s thanks for the trophies, and it was decided to award them for a pairs competition this season. Pairs to be drawn by the committee. All players who wish to take part in this competition arc requested to pul their names on (he board, at the green provided for the purpose, on or before November Kith. It was decided to start the ladder competitions at once, and the committee are to make the necessary alterations and additions to the names on same to-day. The Levin green is to he ollicially opened on Monday next (Labour Day), and all members of the loeal club who wisli to be present must put their names on the board at the green, so that the necessary arrangements can be made. The official opening of (he Palmerston North green took place yesterday afternoon, when visiting howlers were present from the Woodville, Poston, Manawatu, Shannon, Terrace End and Feilding Clubs.
