TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.
The Town Clerk reported as follows at last night's Council meeting :
The road stall' has been engaged on the following works since the last meeting of the .Council, viz: Metalling Purcell, Cook, Putter and Union Streets, and Avenue Hoad, grading foothpath in Main Street South, covering sand drift in Brown Street, replacing-culvert in Purcell Street, piping drain at back of gasworks, and general maintenance work.
Awahmi Drain. —All the pipes provided for have been placed in position at the gasworks, and -the work of cementing the joints and erecting the facings will be done when the creek is sufficiently dry. In the meantime, however, the tilling can be proceeded with, and 1 would recommend that tenders tie called for carting the sand required for same. Metal. —As Mr T. Bnick Ims not forwarded any melal during the past four weeks, I would recommend that his order be cancelled and placed with Air Walter Anderson, of Rnngilane, who has intimated that he is willing to supply at the price now paid by the Council. AG! the Belmont melal has conic to band. Road Stall’.—Mr T. Mitchell relinquished his duties as roadman on the 4th instant, and his resignation is now before the Council. Casual labour was engaged for (lie purpose of placing the pipes in the Awahou drain, and I would he pleased to receive instructions re the matter of replacing Mr Milchell during his absence in camp. The report was adopted.
