SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The adjourned meeting of the local State School Committee was held last night. Present; —Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Rev. J. H. Brodin, Claris, Ingle and Martin, and /he head teacher, Air Furrie. It was resolved to make certain-sug-gestions to the Board re the new school building, and to ask the Board to press on with the work. It was stated that two of the buildings used as class rooms would not be suitable as such during the hot weather. It was decided to get an expert opinion upon a piano offered to the Committee, and if satisfactory, to purchase same. The Committee decided to render assistance to the forthcoming Fair in aid of the school re-furnishing fund. A letter was read from the Schools Committees’ Association re meeting to discuss combined school.-- sports. K possible, delegates and head teacher to attend. Resolved to apply to the Board for a grant in aid of cleaning temporary class rooms. A vote of thanks and appreciation was passed to the head teacher for taking pupils of Std. VI. for extra instruction on Saturdays. Resolved to observe Thursday, 24th iust., as a school holiday. Accounts were passed for.payment, and the meeting rose.
