THE GAS WORKS.
SEPTEMBER WORKING,
The amount of gas manufactured during the month of September was 527,500 ft., which, with the amount in the holder on September Ist, 15,000 ft., made a total of 542.500 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 180,900 H., tor cooking and heating 175,300 ft., and for power 05,3000 ft., used in street lamps 21,000 ft., used at works and manager’s house 24,000 ft., and there was 15,000 ft. in the holder on October Ist, leaving 01,000 ft., representing HI per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. I orty-six tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 11,440 ft. per tun.
MANAGER’S REPORT
The amount of gas manufactured for the month of September shows a slight decrease as against Angus!, but comparing it with September of last year for gas sold there is an increase of 70,000 ft. The unaccounted for gas is high again, on account of two services being put into Mr Barr's premises and only one being used; the other was capped, and was broken with the fall of the front, and was not discovered for some days. I would recommend that new spouting be tixed on front of stoke house, as the present is in very bad repair. The cost of same would be £2 5s (Id fixed in position. The carbonising plant is working satisfactorily.
