PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The quarterly district meeting of the Foxton charge of tho Presbyterian Church was hold at Foxton yesterday. Present: Rev. J. 11. Brediu (moderator), and Messrs Alex. Speirs, Thos. Henderson, Parkes,. Kenton, Hornhlow (Foxton), J. Cost all, Farmer, W. Anion (Glen Ormni), Wilton and Gimlet t (Ranniotn). . The treasurer reported that the defied on last year’s account had been subscribed b\ the several congregations. The date of convening quarterly meetings was left in the hands of the moderator. The sub-committee reported upon their transactions re purchase of motor car. It was reported that the ear had been purchased and paid for at a cost of £IOO. The sum raised included amount received from sale of motor cycle and side ear. The rvhole of (lie money had been voluntarily subscribed. £2 was required to make up £lO to enable the committee to claim a subsidy of £lO from Mr Ross for mainfen mice. The amount was subscribed by committeemen, thus providing
fund of £2O for ear maintenance. The. sub-committee was accorded a heartv vote ot thanks and appreciation for their splendid effort, and. was dissolved. Voles of thunks were also accorded donors. It was decided that repair work be undertaken by Messrs IV-irson and Head. The treasurer's quarterly balance disclosed receipts £275 17s 2(|, expenditure £272 3s 4d, leaving a credit balance ot £3 13s lOd. Air Spoil’s gave notice of. motion that
Vv*r. vs and means lx: discussed at next quarterly meeting to liquidate (lie New Century Loan on manse, Mr Henderson called attention to the necessity for a new root to Foxton church, hut it was pointed out (hat this was a matter tor the local committee to deal with, liepairs to tank at manse were left in the hands of Messrs Speirs and Henderson, with power to act. Several accounts were passed for payment. It was decided to deposit car maintenance fund in the. Post Office, to he operated upon hy Messrs Claris /and Parkes. Resolved to hold the next quarterly meeting at Glen Oroua in January.
A meeting of session was held at (he conclusion of the above meeting. Mr Parmer (Glen Omni) was appointed representative elder to the Assembly which meets at Christchurch in November next.
