MOUTOA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent.)
We extend a welcome to Private Vincent McDowell, of Moutoa, lalely invalided home from France. Pto, McDowell left with the 28th Reinforcements, and went through two campaigns—that of A pros and the Somme. Though thinner and somewhat war weary, our soldier looks well, but is still nursing an injured arm, and the severity of the wound will render him ineligible for further military service.
The following' Mouloa Indies, Mesdames Newth, Pigott and Shaw, will have charge of the Patriotic Shop in Foxton on Saturday next. The contents of the ship will be typical of the country, and a considerable amount of produce has been promised, and should command a ready sale. A feature of the shop will be a good supply of fresh, clean butter and eggs, and home-made cakes, and a cooked ham to be sold by the pound. Some interesting competitions have been arranged, and comprise the following: Sucking pig? sheep, luun, dinner, fern bowl, and a set of military hair brushes. There will be on sale two pairs of bantam fowls, nice pets for the children.
Regret was expressed in Moutoa of the early demise of the late Alias Edwards, of Foxton. Knowing the youngjady best in her business capacity, we bad always found her so efficient and courteous. We extend cur sympathy to her bereaved family,
