THEFT FROM POSTAL PACKETS.
YOUTH COMMITTED FOR SEXT- • EXCE. Edgar Arthur Ernest Rogers, a youth, 10 years of age, was charged at the Palmerston Police Court yesterday, before Mr E. Page, S.M., with the theft, at Feilding, from postal packets, of (1) postal notes of a total value of £2, (2) postal notes of a total value of 19s, the property of George Spence, Eeilding. Delective-Hergoant Quirke prosecuted, and accused, who was represented by Mr Moore, pleaded guilty to the charges. Detective-Sergeant Quirke gave evidence (hat he interviewed accused at his residence in regard to the (hefts, and told him that throe letters had gone astray. Accused admitted taking the letters, and erasing the name of Spence and Spence from the postal notes. He further admitted that ho had (‘ashed the notes at an Indian fruiterer’s, and that he had destroyed the letters. Accused was commit led for sentence to (he Supremo Court at Wellington, bail being allowed in one siiretv of £SO.
