TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.
The Town Clerk’s report, ns follows’ wns rend nnd adopted at last night’s Council meeting:— I beg to report that the road staff has been engaged on the following works during the past month, viz., metalling 'Montoa Road, forming footpath in Union Street, repairing fences round sand-cuttings in Fatter Street, grubbing gorse and lupins in Victoria Park, planting ice plant in cemetery, and general maintenance work. It is proposed to proceed with the metalling of the Moutoa road and forming of footpath in Union Street during the present month. The Belmont metal ordered is coming to hand fairly satisfactorily, but not in sufficient quantities to keep the teams employed by the contractor engaged for full time. I therefore propose to place the order for the 250 yards of river metal authorised by the Council in May last, I would recommend that the following streets be graded as opportunity offers, viz., Lower end of Union Street, Norbi(on 'Road, and Lady's Mile.
