A CHARGE OF MURDER.

At about 6 p.m. on 29th June, a middle-aged man named EdAvard Bruce, a carter by occupation, and a resident of Spencer Street, Addington, acas admitted to the Hospital in an unconscious condition, suffering from injuries to his head, supposed to have been received by falling against a kerb in St. Asaph Street. Bruce died of injuries at 11 p.m. the same day. He was a married man Avith three children.
James Thompson, married man, with five children, was formally charged at the Police Court on Monday with the murder of Edward Bruce. An application to reduce the charge to manslaughter was refused, hut the case Avas remanded till Friday. Bail was allowed accused in £2OO and (avo sureties of £IOO each.
