DISASTROUS FIRE AT GORE.

WHOLE BLOCK DESTROYED

Gore, May 26,

A disastrous lire occurred at Gore at 5 o’clock this morning, and destroyed practically the whole of Holland’s two-story block of buildings in Main Street. The following shops were destroyed: —Hamilton '(jeweller), Harliwick (fruiterer), JForbes (bookseller), Calder (draper), Edgar Watt (draper), Miss Barclay (dressmaker), the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Clubrooms, Mrs Henderson’s’ rooms, private apartments, and the drapery stocks of M'Gruer and Taylor.

The origin of the tire is a mystery. Mrs S. Henderson was aware of smoke at an early hour. She found •the passage full of smoke. The big Tire was fought in a fierce gale.
