Sir.—l read a letter appearing in your last issue from ex-Councillor Stevenson, in which he states that in April a resolution was passed by the Council that if a “certain matter” was not attended to by the 20th April legal proceedings would bo taken, yet no action has yet been taken. Ex-Councillor Stevenson implies that the matter is one of importance. Why, sir, did ex-Council-lor Stevenson introduce this-matter in such a vague way? As a ratepayer, I would like to know something of this remissness. Is it the duty of (he Mayor or the Town Clerk to carry out the resolutions of the Council? Let ex-Couneillor Stevenson tell the public the facts and get the matter put right, and not allow the public to speculate. We elect councillors to discharge their duties without fear or favour in the public interest, and it is up to ex-Councillor Stevenson to let the public into the know, as he was . a party to carrying the resolution in the Council.
